6 Best Things to Do On a Friday Night With Friends

If you ask me what's the best thing to do on a Friday night, I will spend it with my friends in a heartbeat. I mean, why not?

They're like family without all the judgment and snide comments, so you can really do anything you set your heart to on a Friday evening. And I'm sure you've already made a lot of core memories with your gang, so why not make more?

This list of things to do with friends will have you rolling till Saturday night.

1. Restaurant Crawl

I love city food walks, especially after a long, tiring day. It's even better if you're doing it in a place that's a melting pot of different cultures and cuisines, such as New York City or New Orleans.

You'll have a lot of dinner options, that's for sure. There is Mexican food, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Filipino, Italian, and African American.

If you and your friends are foodies, a restaurant crawl is definitely a great way to test your taste buds.

2. Go Bowling

In the mood for a friendly match of target sport?

Bowling is a great recreational activity that allows you and your friend to bond and unwind over cold beers, live music, and good-natured jabs.

3. Karaoke Party

How about a mini singing competition with your friends? What I love about a karaoke party is that they have all kinds of stints these days- themed rooms, neon lights, high-quality sound systems, plush couches, dart machines, and foosball tables.

You can literally feel like a star and sing the night away with your friends.

4. Go Camping

Camping is NEVER not a fun thing. If you're tired of the usual New Yorker cityscape, why not get a well-deserved R&R under a blanket of stars? Just make sure you have everything you need to stay comfortable.

5. Go to a Bar

One of the most common ways to spend time with your friends is to hang out in a bar with live music, honest-to-goodness craft beer, and greasy, delicious food. Need I say more?

6. Travel for an Overnight

How about a night of drinking craft beer and devouring sticky barbeque ribs? This is even perfect for when you're hosting a Super Bowl party.

12. Host a Poker Night

Poker might not be a free thing, but it sure makes a hell of fun. A mind game that will definitely test your strategic thinking and poker face.

6 Socio Sexual Hierarchy - An Awesome Way To Know What Type Of Man Are You https://www.mantelligence.com/socio-sexual-hierarchy/ Fri, 17 Mar 2023 03:10:18 +0000 https://www.mantelligence.com/?p=126400 man in suit fixing his coat while walking - Socio Sexual Hierarchy

Do you want to know where you rank in the socio-sexual hierarchy?

You're in the right place, because here we will discuss the different male personality types. As a life coach, I've interacted with almost all types of people. Some of my works have been published on The Hobby Craze and Idea Pod, so when analyzing male types, I'm your guy! Today, we'll discuss the male hierarchy; let's determine which one you are.

Let's start!

Contents

What is Socio-Sexual Hierarchy?

Socio-sexual hierarchy is the categorization made by Vox day that separates male personality types into ranks. It classifies men based on their social status, interactions with others, and inclinations. We will discuss the six male types: Alpha, Sigma, Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Omega. The social hierarchy helps us to have a better idea of how men fit into different roles in society.

Socio-Sexual Hierarchy Ranking

Categorizing and ranking male types can seem to be a little discerning for some. It separates men based on their social status and how they interact with both men and women. But look on the positive side; every society has a hierarchy. It ensures that everyone has a certain role or responsibility. It also prevents internal chaos because everyone knows their place. Therefore, it avoids overlapping functions and redundancy.

Alpha Male

Alpha males are at the top of the dominance hierarchy. They are natural leaders; confident, dominant, and charismatic. They can confidently tell others what to do and exhibit unrivaled masculinity. Women find them highly attractive, and other men look up to this type of man. Social acceptance is big, and he loves to be the center of attention. Need I say more? Here are the signs you're an alpha male, for those of you who want to be one.

Sigma Male

A sigma male is like introverted alpha, because they exhibit lone wolf-like behavior. They're just as successful as the alpha but don't care about the social hierarchy. They prefer to be on their own and out of a social circle. They stick with a few friends that will last for life. They are men who follow their heart's desires, and they don't care about what others may think. Social acceptance is the least of their worries, and they don't conform to social rules. The character John Wick is a good example of a sigma male!

Beta Male

The beta male is a loyal lieutenant to the alpha male. They lack the charm of the Alpha or Sigma, and they prefer to play safe to avoid confrontations. A beta man is loyal and good at carrying out orders. They're usually calm, open to criticism, and rarely aggressive. This makes them highly trusted and appreciated among other types of males.

Delta Male

The most common male personality type is the delta male. These are the average workers of the pack. They aren't especially attractive. Thus, they struggle with attracting women. When they get into a relationship, they become insecure. They worry that their partners will lose interest and leave them. A delta male doesn't have the will to focus and improve themselves without prompt. They survive by associating themselves with an alpha or beta male. Despite their dependence, they can be dependable as long as they have someone to follow.

Gamma Male

There are both positive and negative traits of a gamma male. The first common perception of this personality type is intelligence. Gamma males are highly intelligent individuals who sometimes become overconfident. These men are also sensitive and romantic. Apart from these good traits, they are also associated with toxicity and manipulation. Whether a gamma male is positive or negative is determined entirely by how they choose to present themselves.

Omega Male

An omega male is the polar opposite of an alpha. Whereas an alpha male prefers to lead a pack, an omega male tends to stand on their own. Because of this, they are sometimes regarded as social outcasts, geeks, and nerds with no social life. They may sometimes lack social skills and aren't conventionally attractive. However, they can prove themselves quite capable despite choosing to avoid groups. Compared to sigma males, who choose to escape the social hierarchy altogether, omega males are at the bottom - though that does not mean they are inferior when it comes to their specific talents.

Male vs. Female Dominance Hierarchies - Do They Differ?

Just like men have dominant hierarchies, women also have them as well. There's also an alpha, beta, sigma, delta, gamma, and omega woman. Each of the traits of both genders is very similar as well. However, according to ABC News, women take longer to form hierarchies. They tend to work out a task democratically because they're uncomfortable with taking over their peers. With men, on the other hand, dominance hierarchy seems to come naturally to them.

Factors Influencing Socio-Sexual Hierarchy

Our place in the socio-sexual hierarchy depends on how we perceive ourselves compared to others. Some factors influence us to feel we are above or beneath an individual. We'll cover the most common factors here.

Physical appearance

Generally, people prefer a physically attractive person. Just look around you; the celebrities, models, influencers, and endorsers are all good-looking. Most people want to look like them. We perceive good-looking people as more likable than ones with average appearance. While appearance is the end-all be-all for our ranking in the hierarchy, it is generally a good thing to be more attractive.

Status and wealth

The higher your social status is, the more power you have. It's the same thing with wealth; we admire those people who are rich and stable financially. People see them as leaders and above everyone.

Personality traits

A socially likable person gets more empathy from people. Take a look at the influencers on social media. They try to imbibe a specific personality to make themselves stand out. They are all likable for different reasons, and that makes them more attractive.

Social skills

This refers to a person's charisma. People with charisma have a magnetic personality which many people find likable. If one is approachable, knows how to communicate with people, and resolves conflicts, then he'll have a better rank in the hierarchy,

Cultural norms

We have diverse cultures all over the world. Some cultures choose a leader based on birthright, others through an election. That is just one example of how cultural norms relate to socio-sexual hierarchy. How we perceive an individual's capacity depends on our instilled cultural preferences.

Confidence

This is how you present yourself to others. The higher your confidence, the more likely people will be impressed. Be careful not to be overconfident because that can be your downfall. Confidence shows know that you know what you are doing. Therefore you can be a good candidate for a leader.

Frequently Asked Questions

Humans need a social dominance hierarchy to ensure the smooth execution of tasks. It keeps all the elements organized as everybody knows their role and responsibilities. If you are still confused about this, I've answered some frequently asked questions that may help clarify it further to you.

Can someone change their position in the hierarchy?

Absolutely! A person can rise to the ranks by earning it. The personality and skills required to advance in status can be developed through experience and actions. The key factor is the willingness to change one's position and become a leader rather than a follower.

Does the Socio-Sexual Hierarchy apply to all cultures and societies?

Yes, the socio-sexual hierarchy is prevalent in all cultures and societies. It is an innate trait of human beings to form social status and dominance levels. Have you seen any country that does not have a president, leader, chief, or king/queen? The groups' perceptions fundamentally guide social hierarchies.

Is knowing your personality dominance level important?

Yes, it can be helpful to know your dominance level! It helps you understand your preferences and why you react in such a way to other people. It can be useful in determining one's leadership style and how to communicate with others more effectively. It can also help avoid conflicts. Conflicts tend to arise when there is a challenge of authority, so knowing the main source of the problem can help you work towards a solution.

Is socio-sexual hierarchy has something to do with romantic relationships?

Yes! There are personality types that women find more attractive. Alpha and sigma males are attractive to women because of their success and confidence. On the other hand, omega and gamma are the ones that have a hard time forming relationships. It is due to their awkwardness and some negative traits. The beta and delta sit in the middle. Getting the woman and handling the resulting relationship has a relation with the hierarchy. However, it may be different if you are both into relationship anarchy, where rules and social norms do not bind you.

10 Signs You Are Being A Clingy Girlfriend! - Learn Useful Ways How To STOP! https://www.mantelligence.com/clingy-girlfriend/ Thu, 16 Mar 2023 11:51:42 +0000 https://www.mantelligence.com/?p=123176 couple hugging in the park - clingy girlfriend

Do you think you have a clingy girlfriend? Are you looking for ways how to stop her needy behavior? You've come to the right place!

Before I became a dating coach, I experienced a lot under an overly attached girlfriend. It was after moving on from her that I decided to become better at understanding women. So, I took the lessons I learned and used them to help others! Some of the advice I've learned has been published on Her Norm and Best Life Online. Today, we'll share ways to spot the signs of a clingy girlfriend and what to do about it.

Let's start!

Contents

What is a Clingy Girlfriend?

A clingy girlfriend is someone who is always dependent on you. She wants all your attention and does not give you enough personal space. A clingy partner wants your world revolves around them.

They exhibit signs of possessiveness. You may ask, isn't that what women really want? In a healthy relationship, boundaries are respected. A clingy person tends to overstep these boundaries.

Clingy vs Needy - Is there a difference?

A clingy girlfriend likes to be physically connected with her partner. Holding hands puts your arm over their shoulder; they want to cuddle and snuggle. On the other hand, a needy girlfriend is someone dependent on their partner. Like they need you to function. They ask for reaffirmation before they do anything. It might seem that they lost their capability to act on something alone.

Signs Your Girl is Being Too Over Possessive

You might think that being possessive is one of the signs of attraction. Yes, it is, but you must watch out for signs that your woman is too possessive. This behavior can lead to a toxic relationship that will not end well.

Sign #1: She's contacting you all day long and doesn't gives you space

Understandably, your partner will contact you, especially if you're not together. She probably thinks about you and misses you, so she sent you a text. That is sweet. But she's possessive if she demands you to text her all day, or gets frustrated if she doesn't get an immediate response from you.

Sign #2: She always wants to join your hangout sessions with friends

Your world does not revolve around her. If she doesn't let you go out with your friends alone, she has trust issues or is possessive. Both of you must have your own circle of friends and are allowed to hang out with them every once in a while - and no one, not even her, gets to decide otherwise.

Sign #3: She drops everything just to spend time with you

It must be sweet to think she will drop everything just to spend time with you! But, be wary. Healthy adult relationships are about prioritization. You cannot just drop everything for a simple reason such as hanging out with you. If she ignores her obligations just to be with you, it's a sign that the attachment she has to you may be unhealthy.

Sign #4: Her social media is all about you and your relationship

Social media is a good way to show people and friends the things happening in your life. If you're happy in your relationship, sometimes, you can't help but post it on your social page! However, it is unhealthy if her social media is all about you and your relationship. They need a reaffirmation of their relationship with other people to feel secure, even when you're right there - and that can be an unhealthy coping mechanism.

Sign #5: She won't do things without checking up on you

This is one sign that you have a needy girlfriend. She has become dependent on you if she can't do things without checking up on you. It could be cute in a new relationship, but it can be annoying and even destructive if it continues.

Sign #6: She's extremely jealous

Constantly checking your phone, limiting your time with your friends, and not letting you talk with others - if she does any of these things, it's a bad sign. An extremely jealous girlfriend like that can only become one thing: a toxic partner. Don't let her jealousy get in the way of other important things in your life.

Sign #7: She's being too possessive

She wants all of you to herself. For some guys, that's the dream - but taken too far, it can be suffocating. If she doesn't let you have any other (friendly) relationships to yourself, she may be treating you more as a toy than as a boyfriend.

Sign #8: She always agrees with what you say

This could be a sign of an anxious attachment style. They fear you might leave them, so they tend to always agree with what you say to avoid disagreement. Relationships are supported by honesty, so her choosing her words too carefully will leave things one-sided.

Sign #9: She wants your life to revolve around her

She is extremely possessive if she wants to be your world and the only thing in it. She cannot accept that you have a life outside your relationship, and wants to control you so that she's the only thing you need. Avoid this at all costs.

Sign #10: She keeps on wanting to meet your parents

For them, meeting your parents is like the key to sealing the deal. Introducing them to your parents is like an invitation to become a family member of yours. However, if she's too insistent, she may be pushing for the next stage in your relationship too quickly.

What Makes a Girl Too Needy?

A woman may become needy due to a variety of reasons. It could be trauma from their past relationship, or they have unsolved insecurities. They need constant reassurance, and become dependent on their partners. Regardless of the reason, now they've become extremely dependent on their partner... even if that dependence becomes damaging to the relationship.

Reason #1: Bad experience from previous relationships

If she experienced abandonment from a past relationship, she would do anything for it not to happen again. And that means she will cling and become overly attached to you, out of fear that you will push her away.

Reason #2: Insecurities

A woman with insecurities will need constant validation and reassurance from their partner. That is their way of checking if they're enough for you. And even if you shower her with reassurance, she might not lose that feeling of insecurity.

Reason #3: Fear of rejection

Rejection often leads to abandonment. If they do something you dislike, they fear it could be a reason to leave them. This often roots from an unpleasant experience in the past, but could be born out of simply never wanting that to happen in the first place.

Reason #4: She is naturally clingy

Then, there's the fact that some women are naturally clingy. That's just how they are. A little bit of clinginess can enhance a relationship... but sometimes, it can do just the opposite.

Reason #5: You are too busy for her

Sometimes, it is also the boyfriend's fault. If you don't spend enough time with your girl, expect her to crave your attention. Something that isn't being given has to be sought.

Reason #6: High expectations

When the relationship is new, guys spend more time with their girls, exploring things and getting to know them better. When she gets used to this amount of attention, it can lead to high expectations. As time passes by, you do not spend that much time together, now that you're more familiar with each other. And she will ask for the same amount of attention you used to give her.

Reason #7: She suspects you of infidelity

Is he cheating? This could be one of the questions at the top of her head, which bothers her. Find out more about it here. If this is the case, all you need is open communication and assure her that there's no one else.

How Do You Deal When Your Girl is Being Overly Attached?

Let's admit, an overly attached girlfriend is annoying. It makes you feel claustrophobic and makes you constantly look over your shoulder. It can also lead to an unhappy and toxic relationship. We'll tell you how to stop this behavior.

Step #1: Set a healthy boundary between the both of you

Healthy relationships last because they respect each other's boundaries. Neither of you has to get under the other's skin all the time. Make sure that you set boundaries and agree to keep them.

Step #2: Communicate with her and tell her how you feel about her behavior

Communication is the key to working out your issues. Their needy behavior is one of the things to talk about with a girl that every guy should know about. If this is an issue for you, you have to tell her about it so she knows how it affects you.

Step #3: Evaluate your comfort level about her clinginess

Determine which parts of her behavior you're okay with, as well as the ones she needs to stop or work on. If the behavior isn't too distracting, it can harmlessly sail by - because it's a way for her to express her affection for you.

Step #4: Spend some quality time with her and make her feel her worth

Some women become needy because you don't give them enough attention. The solution is, every once in a while, to surprise them with some attention. Let them feel like they're worth your attention.

Step #5: Encourage her to seek some professional help

If her behavior is affecting you and her mentally and emotionally, it is best to seek proper help. Unresolved issues will continue to torment both of you, and the best way to deal with them is by asking for professional attention.

Step #6: Be patient

Try to put yourself in her shoes. Maybe she experienced rejection in the past and is scared to lose you. That's why you have to love her, understand her, and be patient with her.

Step #7: Know when its time to let go

If you both have tried everything to make it work but it just can't, then it's time to let go. There's no reason to stay together and get in each others' hair. End it before any more damage can be done. You can learn more from this site if you don't know how to break up with someone.

How To Stop Being Needy in a Relationship?

Don't worry if you think you are being needy in your relationship; it's not the end. There are ways how to divert your energy to more positive things. We'll tell you how to stop being needy in a relationship.

Take some time to focus on yourself.

Use the time you're not with your partner to explore and discover new things. Make a list of hobbies you've never done before and try one of them. This will distract you from focusing too much on your partner and relationship.

Spend some time with family and friends.

Your partner is not the only one who can give you love. Don't forget that your friends and family can give you the affection and attention you need. They're just one call away!

Stop being too jealous.

A relationship is built on trust. If you are too jealous, then where does trust comes into play? Don't waste your energy on jealousy because it will drain you. Just enjoy your relationship without looking at it with jealous eyes.

Build your self-esteem.

Go to the gym or update your wardrobe! Try new things and expand your circle to make new friends. Become more independent and know that you are your person. All of these things will help you feel less insecure.

Address your personal issues.

If you have personal issues from the past, you have to address them. If they remain unresolved, you will continue projecting these feelings onto your partner. So, even if it's difficult, you have to face it eventually.

Don't rely on your partner for everything.

Remember that you were a capable person even before you met your partner. You have your own mind, will, and personality. In a relationship, the two parties should be equal. And though you are together, you are still separate individuals.

Frequently Asked Questions

After reading all this, you must still have more questions to ask. Good thing we're ready to answer them for you!

Are clingy partners manipulative?

Yes, they can be. Though not all clingy partners are manipulative, it can be a serious red flag if they are. The way they keep you to themselves and affect your routine is a type of manipulation, so take notice of this early.

Is being clingy bad?

Generally, yes. You have to give room for your partner to breathe and become himself in your relationship. Being physically close all the time can be annoying and suffocating. It doesn't give enough space for other people to approach you as a couple, either.

Are girls more clingy than guys?

Yes, women are more emotional than guys, so they need more attention and physical affection. That's why there are more clingy girlfriends than boyfriends.

Should I be annoyed if my girlfriend seeks too much attention from me?

No, getting annoyed shouldn't be your first reaction. You should first try to demonstrate understanding and patience. Learn why she needs so much attention, and talk to her about it. Try to find a solution so both of you can be happy and satisfied.

Have you ever asked, "do breaks in relationships work?"

Sometimes, a relationship gets so exhausting for a person that they ask for a temporary break. You have probably asked, 'should I break up with my girlfriend?' As a relationship expert, some of my works have been published on UpJourney and Shondaland. I will answer the question, 'what does a break in a relationship mean?' As well as, do breaks in relationship work?

Let's get started!

Do Breaks in Relationships Work?

One of the most commonly asked relationship questions is, is it okay to take a break in a relationship? Is it the right thing to do?

According to dating statistics, we have gathered that about 57% of women and 51% of men said they are almost certain that their current relationship will be permanent. But, when there's trouble in paradise, do you hit pause or do a full stop? When a relationship can be saved, most people will try to salvage it. One of the things that couples do is take a break. But will it be helpful, or will it just do more harm?

1. What does it mean to take a break in a relationship?

Most of the time, people just need to get out of the circle and look at something from an outsider's perspective. Taking a break allows you to re-examine what you need from the relationship. It can also lead to a better relationship between the two of you.

To make it work, it's important to set clear boundaries. For one, you must determine whether to implement a no-contact rule. This could be tricky, though, as this can lead to more disconnect or divorce. Also, set a time period. How much time do you need to breathe or think?

2. How do I make a relationship break work?

You need to set clear rules and expectations when you take a break. How long will it last? Will you remain exclusive to each other, or are you allowed to date, other people? These are some things you should discuss to avoid misunderstandings that could damage the relationship.

Another thing is to determine the cause of the break. What is the reason that pushed both of you to decide that it would be best to spend some time away from each other? Until you know the root cause, you will be unable to solve the issue. Lastly, discuss ways how you can work on the problem. Then decide if you are willing to try again. It has to be a mutual decision.

3. Don't take a break to avoid a breakup.

Sometimes, people take a break from the relationship when they ought to break up. Some things can be solved by taking a break, but not everything. If you think you have irreconcilable differences and there is no compatibility, it will be best to end it. Taking a break will just drag the relationship out longer.

4. When is it a good idea?

Before you take a relationship break, Evaluate your relationship's current state. Taking a break might be a good idea if you or your partner needs a little growing up. One thing I wish I knew about dating in my 20s was that you both need a life outside the relationship. You could feel you are being smothered too much if there's none. A healthy relationship takes a lot of work and two emotionally mature individuals.

Barriers include age differences, clashing lifestyles, and readiness for marriage or children. And different beliefs could lead to a disconnect or troubled relationship. Taking a break will allow you to consider your willingness to compromise. Taking a break might also be good if you feel suffocated with your relationship. That or reach the point of no return. Seeing a couple's therapist can also be helpful.

5. How long should a relationship break be?

There is no standard duration on how long should a relationship break be. It depends on the couple on how much time of separation they need to think about things. However, at least three weeks is a good time for you and your romantic partner to take a break. It's long enough to get accustomed to your partner not having around. Then you also need another week to figure out what you've been feeling and your next plan.

Breakup vs. Relationship Break

The main difference between a breakup and a relationship break is permanence. A breakup is like hitting the stop button and just deciding to end the relationship. It also means that the relationship rules no longer apply. In comparison, a relationship break is a temporary separation of a couple. Take time to think if they want to save and continue their romantic relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

You have probably figured out the answer to, 'do breaks in a relationship work?' But that's not the only question you have in mind. We are here to answer some of your other questions.

Is on and off relationship good?

An on-and-off relationship often does not last because of lower relationship satisfaction. If your relationship is not stable, and there's always a need to take a break, you must do something about it. A healthy relationship must be consistent and steady. See these types of relationships, and maybe the current one is just not right for you.

What are the signs that a break is the best choice?

When you feel that the relationship is too much to handle or there are many arguments, it will be good to take a break. Arguing and being toxic will hurt your relationship if you stay. If you need some time for yourself and to focus on your own needs, it will also be beneficial to take a break.

How do I save a relationship from falling apart?

To save a relationship, communication plays a very significant role. Talk to your partner about your issues and if you are willing to compromise to fix them. Determine the cause of the problem and find a solution. But more than just finding the answer, it is more important that both of you dedicate yourselves to working out your relationship. Better yet, seek couples therapy.

When do you know it's time to end a relationship with someone you love?

The first sign is when the relationship has become toxic or stressful. It is not healthy and not good for your mental health. The second is if your needs aren't being met and you seek those needs from others. Your partner should be able to satisfy your needs and not others. Lastly, when you stay in the relationship because you feel obligated.

Savior Complex: 7 Harmful, Destructive Qualities That Make The Obsession https://www.mantelligence.com/savior-complex/ Fri, 10 Mar 2023 05:48:24 +0000 https://www.mantelligence.com/?p=87963 man hugging woman - Savior Complex

Do you understand what a savior complex is? In this article, we'll explain what it is.

A savior complex, otherwise known as white knight syndrome, is what develops when a person's savior mentality becomes dangerously obsessive. What starts as a good thing, such as someone with compassion wanting to give healing to others, can become self-damaging when one ignores the consequences. As a dating and life coach, one featured in Lifehack and UpJourney, I have dating tips in my 20s and experience in deciphering emotions.

Ready? Let's begin.

What is a Savior Complex?

A savior complex is a psychological construct characterized by an unchecked obsession with solving people's problems and "saving" them from painful situations, to the detriment of one's sense of self and mental health.

Essentially, the person makes it their mission to "save" others, ignoring all the consequences of obsessively trying to better other peoples' life.

It may start with a good intention at first - wanting to come to the rescue of a loved one, for example - but eventually, the feeling of being in a position of power and moral superiority can burrow deep inside until it becomes a deep-seated craving. Eventually, it stops being a good thing as the person comes to seek out people facing oppression or people in dire straits.

The person becomes obsessed with trying to help them… and not for the best of reasons, or even to the point where they sacrifice their own mental health, stressing themselves out trying to solve people's problems, problems which aren't even theirs.

Characteristics of Someone With a Savior Complex

As this article might tell you, a savior complex is dangerous for someone to have. When someone grows addicted to the feeling of being able to help others, they might start searching for troubled people to "help," even if it might do more harm than good. In the worst cases, they might even try to create the problems they want to fix. As you can imagine, it's a big turn off for women and can be why a relationship grows sour. If you're afraid you're developing a savior complex or suspect your partner has one, look for these important characteristics. If more than one applies, there's a good chance they have a savior complex.

1. You really want to change and "fix" some fundamental things about your partner.

When you're obsessed with trying to help people, you start wanting to "fix" people. You begin to look at people exclusively for their flaws - or even perceive some harmless things as things you must fix. This even applies to your partner. Sometimes, you even try to play as their therapist and force your partner or loved one to change when you should instead love them as they are. So, if you're obsessed with trying to make your partner "better" to the point that it damages your healthy relationship, there may be a savior complex in play.

2. You stay in the relationship even if you're unhappy because you feel a sense of responsibility and dependence.

A savior complex isn't just bad for your partner. It can potentially harm you just as much. If you recognize you're in a toxic relationship but refuse to leave it, either out of a sense of responsibility, or the belief that you can fix it, you might be hurting yourself in the long run. Forcing yourself to stay in an unhappy relationship is never a good thing, no matter how much good you believe you can do them. If you've tried to maintain a relationship with a person who refuses to change their ways, it's better for both of you to separate. It's just beating a dead horse if you try to push it for any longer.

3. You feel like you know what's best for your partner – even more than they do for themselves.

Saving and helping people puts you in a position of moral superiority, which may lead to the misconception that you automatically know better. Then, you start to think that you know what's best for others - no matter the evidence suggesting you actually don't. If you start thinking you know what's best for your partner in all situations, without even bothering to make sure, you'll be looking down on them instead of supporting them. That's never a good thing for a healthy relationship.

4. You treat them like you're interviewing them or "checking up" on them frequently.

When you see yourself as a savior, you might start seeing yourself as the only person who can provide healing to a wounded heart. But to heal others, you take in pain they've felt, empathize with them, and try to solve their problems as if they were your own. Eventually, that sort of emotional strain can numb a person. It eventually leads to them seeing people in pain not as people, but as patients. If you start seeing people as patients to be healed, you're dehumanizing them. If you see people only as the sum of their problems and how you can help them, take a step back. You need to see people as people, not as targets for healing.

5. You start paying their financial costs.

One way to "save" a person is to rescue a person financially. In the same way solving another person's problems makes you feel appreciated, helping another person with their financial problems does the same. But obviously, you can't support a person forever, let alone multiple people. If you find yourself paying for people more than you should, you're not saving them - you're just giving them someone to mooch off of.

6. You're working overtime while they sink deeper.

We all eventually learn that not everyone can help people with certain problems, especially if you aren't a professional. You might encounter a problem so big that it forces the person facing it to sink deeper into sadness and depression. And as you try to fix it only to realize you're not able to fix it, you force yourself to work overtime to try and cope. Eventually, you have to realize that you're unable to fix them. Trying to force yourself to solve that problem will only make it worse for both of you. At that point, it's time to seek proper professional help.

7. You look after your partner so much you don't leave enough time for yourself.

This is the biggest and most common pitfall someone with a savior complex experiences: devoting yourself so much to helping others that you neglect yourself. If you haven't cared for yourself lately, both mentally and physically, while taking care of other people, you've ironically become the person in need of saving.

Causes of Savior Complex

Not everyone develops a savior complex for the same reasons. Like any complex, an event usually triggers its development - this trigger can be any number of things. We'll list a few possible causes below, but bear in mind that just about any event can give birth to a savior complex.

They like the feeling of being able to help people.

One of the most common reasons people develop a savior complex is that they like the feeling of appreciation and moral superiority they get when they help people, possibly even more than they like the act of helping people in the first place. If they helped someone in a big way and get showered in praise and appreciation, especially if they haven't experienced it before, that could trigger an eventual savior complex.

They feel lonely and only know how to connect to people by helping them.

People with low-self worth and/or poor communication skills may seek others' approval because they feel lonely. If they don't know how to connect with others normally, they may start to think that the only way to feel less lonely is to be helpful. And if they succeed by doing that where other methods have failed, they may start believing that the only way to connect is by helping others.

They see helping other people as a way to gain something.

Helping other people should be for its own sake, but some people see it as a way to gain something - whether it's as harmless as gaining a friend or as conceited as earning a favor for later. So, some people with a savior complex see helping people as a game - winning something is what they care about rather than being helpful.

Savior Complex vs. Martyr Complex - What's the difference?

The main difference between a savior complex and a martyr complex is how important the idea of sacrifice is. For those with a savior complex, the goal is to be able to help as many people as possible while avoiding as much self-sacrifice as possible. But for those with a martyr complex, sacrifice is necessary. Saviors want to be seen as an unflinching pillar of support. On the other hand, martyrs want to be remembered as the person who sacrificed so much for others' happiness. So, while both complexes can hurt the people who have them, only one of the two makes it intentional.

How To Avoid Developing A Savior or Messiah Complex

As you're now aware, developing a savior or messiah complex is dangerous. That's why, to prevent the harm that comes with them from happening, we must avoid them in the first place. But how? Here, we'll list some ways you can avoid developing these complexes.

1. Be content with what you accomplished.

The most common trigger for developing a savior complex is helping someone, usually in a way that gets you a lot of appreciation. When such a good thing happens, you start wanting to do it more, to be even more appreciated. To avoid falling into this, you should be content with what you've accomplished. Don't start thinking you have to do more just to be appreciated.

2. Don't put too much importance on the approval of others.

While it's okay to want approval, you shouldn't put too much importance on it. Making it the thing you want most will only put you on the path of pushing yourself harder and harder to try and get it. Spend too long doing that, and you'll end up trying to help people to the detriment of your own mental health. So, while it's okay to want someone's approval, you should earn it naturally, by being yourself.

3. Don't try to help people all by yourself.

No man is an island, and no one person can solve every problem. Trying to solve everyone's problems by yourself may lead you to believe only you can fix anything and may set you on the path to developing a savior complex. Rather than try to do everything yourself, try asking for others' help. Being surrounded by people who also want to help can stop you from becoming a lone wolf savior.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have some more questions about savior complexes I didn't cover in this article? I've answered some frequently asked questions down below, so read on.

Is having a savior complex a terrible thing?

Ironically, despite everything I said up until now, it's not the complex itself that is the terrible thing. Wanting to help people is an honest and pure intention. It's the lengths we go to in trying to help people is what's terrible; ironically, we hurt more than we help if we take helping others to extremes.

Does someone with white knight syndrome last in a relationship?

While a white knight may earn brownie points early in a relationship, not everyone is a princess who needs saving. A relationship built only on wanting to come to someone's rescue has little room for actual love. If you're constantly saving someone, can they ever learn anything about the real you? Not only that, there are other types of relationships out there - people who practice relationship anarchy make it so that a white knight has little place in it.

How has social media furthered the savior complex?

Social media has made it so that the people who are oppressed and troubled have more of a voice, meaning that more people, especially those with savior complexes, can hear it. Ironically, social media has proliferated the idea of helping people in need... and in some cases, even to the point of harming the people doing the saving in the first place.

How do you know if you have a savior complex?

The easiest way to know is to look at what you're trying to do or would do and see if those things are being put to extremes. Are you helping people while neglecting yourself? Will you do anything to help people? Are you doing it for the wrong reasons? These questions will reveal whether you have a savior complex or not.

Is the white savior complex similar to the savior complex?

Both the savior complex and the white savior complex are about the same, but with a distinction: a savior complex can develop in anyone. Still, a white savior complex specifically targets white people. The white savior thinks that, because they are white, they are much more capable and talented than people of other races, and thus ironically looks down on the people they're trying to save.

For those who suspect they have a savior complex, there is value in backing off and letting others handle it - so don't take it all on yourself to help others.

Our readers come to me for tips on moving on from a relationship, so you know you're in the right place to learn how to let go. Luckily, I'm the expert on the signs a girl doesn't like you, since I've been featured on sites like Her Norm and Best Life Online for my work about dating. Here, I'll teach you what to do to get over her quickly.

Let's go!

Contents

Signs It Might Be Time To Let Go

In relationships, most people go through stages. Some go through the awkward stage, where you know you feel deeply for each other, yet you're not comfortable being your weird self around your partner. Some go through the lull period, where you've been together for a few years and feel like the spark isn't there anymore.

It's normal to feel that way because of how long you've been together, but some couples move past that and choose to still be together despite the changes in their partnership.

For the unlucky ones, they have to go through the breakup stage. It's painful and miserable for both parties, especially when they deeply love each other. Sometimes, breaking up is the only mature thing to do when things don't line up, no matter how hard you try to compromise.

You may be asking, "Should I break up with my girlfriend?" And to that, we have some answers. In this list, you will learn the signs it's time to let go.

Sign #1: She doesn't mind if you don't spend time with her.

In any romantic relationship, it's important to have quality time together. For most people, it's what they look forward to at the end of a tiring day or week. Beach trips, movie dates, or even peaceful night strolls are some of the best ways to spend quality time with your significant other.

When you feel that she's not up to doing these things with you, it might be a sign that she's not craving your company anymore. At the beginning of the relationship, I bet you thought of multiple ways to extend your time together so that you could be with each other. Now, if you feel she doesn't care if you're there or not, it might be time to let go.

Sign #2: She doesn't make you feel good about yourself.

One of the most useful relationship advice I give is telling people to think about how they feel when they're with the person they love. Do they feel good? Do they feel valued? Do they feel like their opinions are just as important, even if they don't align?

Are they being acknowledged when they are expressing something that's bothering them? If you don't feel good about yourself when you're together, it's a clear sign you're not supposed to be together. If all you get are negative emotions from her, it's time to let go.

Sign #3: You don't see a future with her.

If you're a person who always plans for the future, you should be with a woman who's included in that vision. You would think that most people who get into relationships already have this one locked in. However, that's not always the case. Some find their partner's deeper values and beliefs only when they've been together for a while.

What if she wants to work in another country, yet you can't imagine leaving your hometown? What if she pictures herself in a home taking care of cats instead of kids, yet you've always imagined a big family? If your loved one believes in different things, you may be better off with a new person who shares your beliefs.

Sign #4: She won't stop talking about her past relationships.

A past relationship should only stay in the past. If you ask any relationship expert, they will tell you to put the past behind you and look towards the future. If your partner can't stop talking about her exes or, worse, comparing you to her ex-boyfriends, it's a sign that she doesn't respect you and your relationship. She doesn't think of you as the man who treats her better than the men she loved in the past.

Not only will that take a toll on your mental health and trigger your insecurities, but it will also hinder your connection to her from growing deeper. When you involve other people in your relationship, even if you're just talking about them, it will create distance in your relationship.

Sign #5: You can't trust her.

One of the signs of a failed relationship is your lack of trust. In dating or even married life, it will only work if you trust your partner completely. You have full faith in them. You have given them complete access to your life, secrets, thoughts, quirks, and habits, yet you trust them completely to keep private things private.

You trust that they will not use your weaknesses against you, and you believe in their genuine friendship. You should have a partner you can trust with your life. If you feel you can't trust them, it's time to start the healing process and end the relationship.

How to Get Over a Girl (a crush, someone you never dated, or someone you still love)

I know we've all been through the dreaded one-sided emotional train of distress - the unrequited love train. Social media may tell you that this is one of the most painful kinds of love there is, and in most cases, it's true. Most people have had their first heartbreak because of unrequited love. Often, they feel deeper toward a close friend and find out later that they don't feel the same way.

Once you start falling for a friend or a colleague, you're going to be clouded with emotion that you won't be able to spot the signs she's not into you. You will be blinded by your feelings and hope for a future relationship that you won't see how they feel about you. Before you get in too deep, we've got a few tips on getting over a girl.

#1: Find a new hobby.

When you devote your time and attention to other things, it makes the grieving process easier. If you find a new hobby, you will momentarily forget the grief of heartbreak. When you hike with your friends, take a pottery class, or even make DIY furniture at home, you will find peace in the focus you need to accomplish the activity.

A friend of mine shared his success story of moving on from unrequited love. He tagged along on one of his co-worker's badminton sessions and thought it would be fun to join in. Not only is he one of the best players in their group, but he also joined a few competitions and won.

His world opened up to many new friends and experiences, all because he tried something new.

#2: Seek closure.

When you talk to that person again, it might help if you gain closure. You want to know what they didn't like about you or why they didn't think you were a compatible match. It would help you gain clarity if you could hear the answer directly from your crush. It will hurt and it will be very difficult, but it might just be the thing to help you move on.

#3: Express it however you can.

When you have all these feelings bottled up inside, you will have a hard time moving on from them. You should have an outlet to rant about your emotions. Some people use journals to write about their experiences. Some write songs or poetry to express their pain.

Some like to talk about it on a podcast or make videos. If you feel like you need to scream, go ahead. Letting your feelings out will help you move on.

#4: Think of what you didn't like about them.

Like I said before, you may be blinded by your feelings when you like someone that much. You won't really see any of their flaws and imperfections if your eyes are clouded by emotion. Now, when trying to move on from them, it's best to think about the stuff you didn't like about them.

Did they take advantage of you? Did they talk down to servers? Did they throw trash on the street instead of the garbage can? It's hard to see those stuff when you're in love. But, during the healing process, it will help you move on if you open your eyes to the truth.

#5: Invest in your self-improvement.

Take yourself on your own Valentines' Day. Buy yourself the meal you want and watch the movie you've wanted to see. Don't skimp out on yourself. After all, you deserve it.

Also, get on an exercise regimen and stick to it for at least two weeks. You'll feel much better when you take the time to improve yourself. Loving yourself may seem simple, but you often overlook it. Before you invest in a new relationship, work on yourself first.

Things You Should Never Do to Get Over Someone

Getting over a lost love is never easy. The tips we have here won't work for everyone. Most people try everything just to find something that works. During the healing process, you will discover the stuff that applies to you and the things you don't really want to do. It's different for everyone.

However, there are things that you should never do to get over someone. This applies to everybody. You have to avoid these things at all costs if you want to learn how to be a better man in the face of challenges. We will teach you a few tips on what not to do when moving on from somebody.

#1: Don't rush.

When you find out that she doesn't feel the same way, it's going to be painful. And it's going to take some time to heal from that. If you force yourself to feel positive emotions when you're not ready, you're going to fall back into the same painful spiral you were in. Let yourself understand your feelings and mend your broken heart at your own pace.

#2: Don't stalk them on social media.

I know it must be your first instinct to do online therapy and soak yourself in their social media profiles. But, trust me when I say it's not a good idea. This is the one thing you should avoid. You will only hurt yourself more when you eventually find out they're seeing someone else. It will only bring you negative thoughts and won't help you move on from them.

#3: Don't let your life revolve around the pain.

It's hard not to awaken to painful feelings, especially when you really love a person and they don't feel the same way. It will be necessary for you to let out your feelings because you need an outlet. However, you need to step out of that stage eventually.

Don't let your life revolve around the pain you've experienced. Once you're done with the bars and drinking, it's time to get up and move forward. Find something else that will make your life worth living.

#4: Don't make it something more than it is.

I once talked to a licensed therapist about moving on and breakups, and she gave me useful advice. She told me that people have a hard time moving on because they see things for more than what they are. This usually happens when the couple has been together for a long time.

You should look back at the relationship with a clear mind when moving on. Remind yourself of all the reasons your relationship ended. Don't keep thinking about all the good memories because you will only miss that person and end up calling them.

#5: Don't keep it all to yourself.

You will need a strong support system to carry you through in this painful time. It won't help if you keep it all to yourself. You need friends and family to surround you and help you overcome the pain.

Go see your family and spend some quality time with them. Ask your friends to join you in your new hobbies and find more activities to do together.

#6: Don't blame anyone.

You won't be able to move on if you blame your partner or yourself. You have to accept that sometimes, things don't work out, and that's not anyone's fault. Things unravel in a long-term relationship, and sometimes you can do nothing about it.

Use positive psychology tricks and set your mind to a single thought - this is no one's fault. It's just something you have to go through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have any more queries about how to get over a girl? We have a few frequently asked questions that may help answer them.

How long does it take to get over a girl?

There's no right answer to this question. Everyone has their own pace when moving on. Once you feel like your world isn't crashing down on you and you can stand a little stronger than yesterday, you know you're close to healing.

Why does losing a relationship hurt so much?

Losing a relationship hurts because you might have invested much of yourself into that connection. Love is a battlefield, after all. You won't survive unless you're scratched, even a little. Love also hurts because you might have pictured a different ending for you two, but you find out later that it's not what you wanted.

How do I completely forget a girl?

It's quite impossible to forget a person completely. You won't erase a girl from your mind because she was a part of your life for some time. She impacted your mind and heart, and it will be extremely difficult to forget her. The best thing you can do is to put her presence in a box and tuck it away in the past.

You don't need to forget her. You just need to find a way to live with the memories you shared and not completely fall apart.

Is it possible to let go of someone I cared about so much?

As hard as it is, it's possible. People do it all the time, even if it takes months or years. It will be difficult and painful. You might even slip up and call them when you're drunk. However, you will get through it. We're all built to fall and stand up again. You will eventually be able to move forward and put the past behind you.

5 Successful Ways To Overcome Rejection https://www.mantelligence.com/ways-to-overcome-rejection/ Sun, 29 Jan 2023 04:41:37 +0000 https://www.mantelligence.com/?p=101318 Man Drinking Cup of Tea in Nature - Successful Ways To Overcome Rejection

via: Pexels / Uriel Mont

The 5 ways you can overcome rejection. We were so moved by a video from Jay Shetty about rejection, that we decided to do a spin On it and talk about the successful ways to overcome rejection.

5 Successful Ways To Overcome Rejection

Since we want you to take on rejection in the best way you can, we’ll also tell you the one thing you’re doing that’s not helping you move forward from rejection.

Let’s not wait any longer. Let’s start.

5. Support System

When we face rejection, we can’t help but doubt ourselves. For example, you all want to know how to make any girl fall in love with you, but sometimes no matter how hard you try you can still be rejected.

With that, you’ll think that you’re not enough for anyone. You shouldn’t think that way, but it’s hard when you’re alone. That’s why it’s so important to have a support system. Whenever we get rejected, it’s best to spend some time with our friends and support system.

They’ll definitely take some of the negative feelings off of us. Even though hanging out with your network can be enough, it’s best to open up to them about what happened. They’ll be able to lift your spirits up and give you motivation to not give up, or think about the best way to go through the feelings.

Plus, spending time with people that enjoy your company will also help you think and feel that you are, in reality, wanted and needed as an individual. The idea of rejection will seem less intimidating when you know that there are people that have your back, no matter what.

4. Give It Time

Much like learning how to get a girlfriend takes so much time, accepting and moving on from rejection is the same.

It takes time.

Sometimes even more than we expect. We all have to accept the fact that we’re human, and with that, we have emotions. It’s normal to feel hurt after being rejected.

It’s okay to take some time to heal. Actually, scratch that. It’s okay to take a lot of time to heal. No one can heal over being hurt right away. It’s not a switch that we can turn on and off.

Don’t force yourself to be okay right away from the rejection. The best way to overcome rejection is by taking your time and going through it. Remember the line, “the easiest way out is through”? It just means that you have to go through it, yes, go through every single day of hurt and pain, in order to overcome rejection.

Trust us, the more you suppress the feelings, the harder it will be. And you can’t say you’ve successfully overcome something if you didn’t go through it at all, right?

Don’t be too hard on yourself if it’s been a long time and it still stings. As long as you’re making progress, no matter how slow, then it’s a good sign. And gentlemen, if you want to know how to be attractive to women, let me tell you a secret. Women appreciate men that don’t hide their emotions. Use that knowledge to your advantage.

3. It’s Time To Learn

What’s the first thing that you think of when you get rejected? It’s common to think that you’re not good enough, you don’t meet certain standards, or you haven’t been giving enough effort.

We believe that one of the most successful ways to overcome rejection is to look for a learning opportunity. It might not seem obvious at first, but rejection can be the path to your self-discovery and personal development.

Say you’ve been rejected by a woman after just one date. It can feel terrible at first but take a second look, maybe you just don’t know how to make a girl like you yet. So, knowing that, you jump to knowing more about how you can improve yourself to learn how to get a girl to like you. This is an alpha male body language that you should incorporate into yourself.

Alpha males always make it a point to improve themselves and find a learning opportunity in everything. Sometimes, being rejected can open new and better doors for us if we just know to find the lesson in the rejection.

We can be the best version of ourselves. speaking of the best version of yourself, why not learn more on how to be an alpha male, the best kind of man there is?

2. I Am Worthy

Rejection is the kind of event that when it happens, you can’t stop yourself from overthinking, overanalyzing, and reading too much into it. We dwell on it. Maybe you’ve studied so much on how to get your crush to like you but ended up with her not texting you back.

You’d think you’re not attractive enough or you’re boring. But keep in mind that getting rejected doesn’t define your worth. Rejection is, well, most of the time, just people, values, needs, and so on not matching up.

Build up your confidence and self-worth. It will be so worth it. They will help you remember that some situations are just tough, but they don’t mean you’re not worth anything. It just means that thing is not the one for you. You’re worthy and capable of love.

Sometimes, the search can take a while, but you will get there. As long as you’re confident in yourself, you’ll keep pushing until you get what you want. Go for it! Rejection isn’t the end of the world.

1. Thank You, Next!

Yes, I love that song! It’s a great tune, but the line “thank you, next” also applies so much to what we’re talking about today. Whenever we’re faced with rejection, “thank you, next” is always a good mantra.

Yeah, it’s a good fit. We shouldn’t dwell on the rejections we face.

To be honest, we face a lot of rejections day-to-day. It’s all a matter of perspective. We need to empower ourselves to say “next!”. It’s a simple phrase that helps us take control of the situation. The more we dwell on the rejection, the more it’s taking control of us. We can’t deny that rejection is a normal part of our lives.

No one person has lived throughout life without going through any kind of rejection. This is one of the most successful ways to overcome rejection: taking control and going onto the next opportunity. What good will dwelling even do? We should always take action and move forward, gentlemen.

It’s a hard pill to swallow, but life won’t stop for anyone. So, the best way to overcome rejection is to say thank you, next! And go on to the next journey, next destination, or next chapter of your life. It’s as exciting as it sounds!

Your perspective is what will set you aside from other people handling rejection.

One Thing That you should stop doing when you face rejection

We’re finally at the end of this video, which means that we’re going to tell you the number one thing that you should stop doing when you face rejection. Trust us when we say, this behavior is making everything worse than they already are.

Beardy’s right, so gentlemen, when faced with rejection, stop the self-pity. When you let self-pity into your life, you’re letting it take control of your life. You’re letting it run its course without doing much to stop it.

When we’re overcome with self-pity, we just accept it and pity ourselves. We don’t become men of action. What happens is, instead of taking control of our lives after the rejection, we choose to spread the misery. To be frank, it can be a form of selfishness, to ourself and to others. We bask in our own suffering and let others bask in it, too.

We become less aware.

Misery never did anyone a favor, so don’t give it a favor by letting it control your life. Take a hold of life and rise above the rejection.

Conclusion

Do you know any more successful ways to overcome rejection? Let’s all learn to overcome rejection. Share it below. That’s it, gentlemen. These successful ways to overcome rejection will make rejection a little less intimidating. And the less you’re intimidated, the more you’ll be able to make any girl like you.

This list of things to do in the morning will jumpstart your day.

Believe it or not, 92% of highly productive people have their own morning routine. I've written helpful posts on productive things to do and things that can help improve your life. To help you adjust to a healthier lifestyle, I've gathered the best things to do when you wake up.

Let's start.

Contents

5 Things To Do In The Morning to Start Your Day Right

Whether you’re a morning person or not, you have to start your day somewhere along the way. The great thing about the morning routine or daily habits I’m about to share is that it doesn’t matter if you’re a morning bird or a night owl. This 5-step routine will help you get ready for what your day (or night) is about to offer.

#1: Wake Up and Breathe

Let's be real; opening your eyes as soon as you wake up can be challenging for many people. However, doing breathing exercises is not. Starting your day with breathing helps improve your lung capacity and is a great awareness activity that'll help you be more alert throughout your day.

There are plenty of breathing techniques, but I highly suggest Dirga Pranayama or 3 Part Breath for beginners. This is where you inhale–consciously and continuously from your belly, chest, and throat (hence the name)–and exhale the other way. Feel your breath rising and falling, moving in your body. And after a few minutes or so, you'll feel more relaxed and awake.

#2: Don’t Reach for Your Mobile

Going on social media to catch up on the things that happen while you’re sleeping is incredibly tempting. However, reaching for your phone or tablet as soon as you wake up is the pitfall for an unproductive day. Believe it or not, most apps on your phone are designed to keep you from noticing time (Looking at you, Tiktok). And so, try not to look at your phone as soon as you wake up–however difficult that might be.

#3: Make Your Bed

Instead of staying in bed on your phone for a long time, stand up and make your bed. Making your bed in the morning will prevent you from going under the covers. Therefore, you’ll be forced to do other things than lying down for who knows how many minutes or hours. Besides, going to a clean, made-up bed when you actually have to sleep is a reward waiting for you at the end of your day.

#4: Move Around

After making your bed, you might want to do some stretches or morning exercises. Moving your body in the morning will helps in improving blood flow throughout your body after being asleep and sedentary for hours. When you exercise in the morning, it also provides a boost of energy as well as positive chemicals in your brain, making your mood brighter.

#5: Spend Time with Your Loved Ones

If you live with your spouse, a beloved pet, or another close family member, spending time together in the morning, however short it is, can instantly improve your mood for the day. Playing with your pet, talking to your partner, or helping your kids get ready are some productive yet rewarding activities you can do in the morning.

5 Benefits of Starting Your Day With a Routine

Why should you start your early morning routine with activities that promote mindfulness and productivity? A successful person would tell you that having productive mornings will allow you to reach your goals faster. But there's more to it than that.

Benefit #1: Better sleep quality.

Starting your day right involves doing things that will more or less improve your energy levels and mood. Getting enough sleep and rest can do wonders for your energy when you wake up. And in return, you'll get the benefit of having better sleep.

Sticking to a morning routine, like waking up at the same time every day allows your body's circadian rhythm to align better with your schedule and energy throughout the day. To sleep better, you must engage in activities that foster better habits, such as adopting a mindful morning regimen.

Benefit #2: Enough time to accomplish your plan for the day.

Looking at social media, with all the apps that keep you entertained, can definitely take up hours. Grabbing your phone the first thing as soon as you wake up can hinder you from completing an important task.

Committing to a morning routine where you start the day with activities that won't take a huge chunk of time helps you have enough time to do things that are on your to-do list.

So instead of staying an hour or more in bed scrolling away at your phone screen, you should partake in doing minor yet productive activities such as gratitude journalling and making your bed.

Benefit #3: Reduces stress

Having enough time to accomplish your work and the demands of the day helps reduce stress and bouts of anxiety. You won't be always in a hurry, and maybe you'll find yourself having a bit of leisure time before you start your day. This gives you more emotional and mental capacity to participate in further relaxation with friends and other loved ones.

Benefit #4: Improved cognitive function

Excellent sleep quality and low stress levels both contribute to good mental health. While enhanced functionality in your mind is essential to stay productive and on top of your daily tasks, a clear head is important for peace within yourself.

Benefit #5: Develop healthy habits

A popular saying talks about how habits become a permanent part of your life if you continue doing them for a month. And it's really true if you want to change your lifestyle. Adopting and sticking to a productive morning routine can inspire you to incorporate more mindful and healthy habits into your daily life.

How Can You Develop a Healthy Morning Ritual

Rome wasn't built in a day; so does developing healthy morning habits. To give your daily routine a makeover, you need to know certain factors that can make or break the change you want to commit to.

#1: Know your body clocks.

Getting familiar with your circadian rhythm or allowing yourself to develop one that adheres to your schedule best is a key factor in changing your routines for your waking hours.

#2: Start having quality sleep.

As mentioned before, quality sleep improves your energy, mood, and your mental capacity to perform your daily duties. As much as possible, sleep for at least 6 hours and take naps within the day. The idea is to get as much good sleep as you can.

#3: Plan your next day's morning activity.

Organizing your day ahead brings comfort, especially when you're good at adhering to your schedule. Why not incorporate a few mindful morning routine ideas to develop good habits when you wake up? You can prepare for the next day by assembling an outfit or making some overnight oats.

#4: Make your morning habits more fun.

There are plenty of ways you can do to add smiles and laughter to your mornings. For example, using a habit tracker when journaling is another thing that can make your AM routine fun. It's satisfying to see checklists getting filled up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have any more questions about the ideal morning routine for a productive day? Here are the most asked questions that I'll answer.

What is the best time to go to bed?

Ideally, you should be in bed around 10 hours before your first appointment the next day. Sleeping at a set time is something everyone can hope for. However, certain jobs might require you to work split hours, not only the regular 9 to 5.

What can I do instead of grabbing my phone in the morning?

You can do plenty of things, including making your bed, fixing yourself a hot cup of morning coffee or some healthy breakfast, reading the morning pages, and meditation. You can also just do some morning hygiene care, work out, or engage in another physical activity. Any other activity is a good idea and can be a breath of fresh air.

What is the best time to wake up in the morning?

Similar to the first question, it's ideal to wake up at least an hour or two before your first appointment of the day. This gives you ample time to get ready and prepare yourself for your daily schedule. Don't hit the snooze button often.

Is waking up early good for you?

Many studies say that waking up early is great for your overall health and productivity. This is mainly due to the sunlight you can get in your system. Sunlight also gives you positive energy. Another good thing about waking up early is that an early riser can enjoy more hours of the day; you might even have time for brunch.

In this article, I'll teach you how to get a girl to like you again.

So you let a keeper go and have no idea how to get her back. Luckily, I've written many articles to help men work out their dating woes, from starting a conversation with their crush, what do girls like and reasons why a girl is ignoring them.

Let's begin.

5 Reasons Why Women Turn Away and Lose Interest

There could be a lot of reasons girls think you're unattractive, and it goes beyond face value. Here's the truth, women are complicated creatures. Even when a woman tells you it doesn't take much to make her happy, she is still high maintenance. Not that it's a bad thing. Having a girlfriend just requires abundant care and attention. It's not enough to be a nice guy. A high value man would understand that going into a romantic relationship takes more than attraction. A big chunk of it is built on commitment, passion, and a bit of mind-reading (if you know what I mean).

Before you even ask a girl out and get in a relationship, you might want to get yourself familiar with all the things that tick any woman off.

1. You Are Not Your Word

Gone are the days were men actually live by their words. In medieval times, men believed that "a promise made is a promise kept" and that breaking their word meant tainting their name and honor. These days, some guys treat their promises like a tweet they could just delete once they change their minds.

One important thing you need to remember about women is that they have great memories. Everything you say to them will be remembered, monitored, and used against you when they have to. Saying something and not acting on it is one fewer brownie point. Breaking a promise is an offense. When you think about your commitments, remember that every time you keep your word, it shows her that you got her back and she can trust you. Each time you say you will get it done, do it or face her losing respect for you and leaving you for someone who can actually walk the talk.

2. You Are Not on the Same Page

Timing is important for a romantic relationship to work, but as Ted Mosby said, "timing is a bitch." A healthy relationship requires two individuals with the same values and who can agree to disagree on most things. In fact, according to anthropologist Helen Fisher, who has done a lot of extensive research about human love, a relationship is more likely to survive if a guy and a girl in love have fewer bridges to cross. This means that if your core values are not aligned, keeping your relationship will be a bit of a struggle. If this is the case in your relationship, your girlfriend will be in a constant state of doubt.

It's even harder when one of you is not willing to compromise. My dad used to say, "True love prefers compromise over conflict." It's probably one of the best pieces of dating advice I got from him, and it's true. I've realized over time that a healthy relationship is one where you and your partner can willingly meet halfway, because you both understand that it's necessary to allow your relationship to grow. And if you can't, it just won't work.

3. You've Become Complacent

Familiarity breeds complacency, which can sometimes be the case with most couples. In my years as a dating coach, I've had women coming to me to complain about how their boyfriends aren't spending time with them anymore.

Here's another piece of dating advice: stay consistent and don't stop doing nice things for your girlfriend even after she said yes to you. Look. Relationships take a lot of work. All the flirting, surprising her with flowers, and spending time together don't just stop after you get her. If anything, you should be doing more of it. The nice things you do for her don't even have to be grand. You just need to show her she's still important and love her just the same as when you first met her.

If you love her and think she's a keeper, being complacent in your relationship is the last thing you'd want to do because that's a surefire way to make her lose feelings for you.

4. You Were Jealous

If there's no trust, there's no love. Mutual trust has always been one of the defining traits of healthy, long-lasting love. And if you ask me, it's the most important thing couples should nurture in their relationship. Why? Because it just makes everything easier. Going away for a business trip? "Cool. Have fun. I'll miss you." Catching up with a friend over brunch? "Sure. Say hi to him (or her) for me."

Being able to trust each other completely allows the both of you to live your lives fully, and grow as individuals while maintaining a loving, supportive, and not at all suffocating relationship.

5. You Grew Apart

As I said, a relationship shouldn't hinder you from growing as a person. If you're not growing together, the time will come one of you will realize that living your separate lives is better than staying stuck and stagnant in your relationship.

How to Get a Girl to Like You Again - 7 Steps To Win Her Back

So you've made the mistake of letting a good one go, and now you spend your days locked up in your room sulking while Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man" is on repeat. Sigh. Fortunately, second chances exist, and I know just how to get a girl to like you again.

Step #1: Figure out what went wrong

Breakups aren't all that bad. Sometimes being alone helps you get in touch with yourself, spend time with your thoughts, and reflect on your decisions. During this time, you might realize some things you could have done better in your relationship and things about yourself you could work on. Then, you can work on trying to mend the relationship once both of you are ready.

Step #2: Make her miss you.

Time has a way of making us realize who matters and who doesn't. Perhaps some time apart might just be a good idea. If you want your ex to miss you, the most surefire way to do it is to have no contact with her for thirty days. That means you don't get to talk to her, make a phone call, text her, stalk her on social media, and meet up with her.

The psychology behind the "30-day No Contact Rule" is that it forces you and your ex to really work on yourselves, reflect on what transpired in your relationship, and make sense of old feelings you felt that caused your breakup. It also gives you enough time to decide whether or not your relationship is worth a second shot.

Step #3: Start working on yourself.

As I said, you can turn a bad breakup around by devoting your time to improving yourself and coming out of it as a high value man.

Perhaps your life needed direction, and being in a relationship made you feel like you weren't good enough for anyone. Maybe you were insecure and made the terrible mistake of cheating on your ex. Whatever caused your breakup, know that it always takes two to make or break a relationship and that working on yourself is always a good idea.

Now I know I've included this as one of the steps to get your ex back, but it's also important to remember that working on yourself should first and foremost be for yourself. Think of it as doing yourself a favor.

When you allow yourself to grow, you also open new doors in your life, and these doors can even lead you to better opportunities, far greater than getting back with your ex. Even if you don't end up getting back together, at least you come out of it a better man. So take your time, feel everything, and trust the process.

Step #4: Get out and start meeting other people again.

You don't have to close your door to other people when recovering from a breakup. Maybe for a while, but not forever. I say this because I've been there and done that. We learn best from the experiences of others, and going out and meeting new people might teach you a thing or two about love and life.

As I said, time always has a way of teaching us what we want and don't want out of life. Perhaps being with other people can help cast a new light on old issues you had in your past relationship and help you make peace with them. Maybe meeting someone new can help you see a different side of yourself and a better one, I hope.

Step #5: Impress her from afar.

You don't have to try so hard for this one. When you are committed to becoming a better man for yourself, people will notice. Do you know that old nugget of wisdom that says, "You attract the company you keep"? Well, there is truth in that.

Your life can't rise any higher than the standards you set or the company you keep, and the healthier you are inside and out, the better you get at choosing the people that gets to stay in your life. The moment you start to radiate positivity, people will notice, and in no time, your ex will too.

Step #6: Give her space.

As I said, spending some time apart and giving each other space is important not just to recover from your breakup but also to buy you enough time to collect yourselves. It's natural to miss someone, but all breakups hurt, and wounds don't heal overnight.

Remember, you can't heal in the same environment that made you sick, so even when it's hard for you to be away from your ex, know that it's for the best.

Step #7: Approach her again when the time is right.

There will come a time when you'll feel better, and remembering all your memories together wouldn't feel like a stab in the heart. When that happens, that's how you know you've moved on.

Hopefully, you didn't block each other on social media, so you could at least know how she's doing.

After taking the time to heal and when you feel like she's better, perhaps you could try talking to her again and see where you now stand in each other's lives.

When is the Right Time To Stop Pursuing Your Feelings For Her?

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but sometimes, things just don't work out the way we want them to. It sucks, but when the time comes for you to move on, you move on. No matter how much you love her or how hard you want to try again with her, when a woman is already showing signs she doesn't like you, you just got to take her up for it.

But hey, it could be a good thing, you know. You'll get a second chance at love. It's just the next time it will be with a new person.

1. She Can’t Trust You Anymore

Men will make a lot of stupid mistakes in their lives, and sometimes the mistake is just so bad that it's irreparable. A woman might give you a second chance, but getting her to trust you again may prove difficult, and you can't really blame her for it, can you?

When you've done everything you can to redeem yourself, but she just can't get past what you did, I'm sorry, but no matter how hard you try, it will never be the same again. Again, there's no love when there's no trust, and if that's the case, you two will be better off.

2. You’ve Become Two Different People

A lot can happen in your time apart. She'll meet new people and you will too. She'll learn something new about herself, and you would too. Perhaps she'll realize that she wants something different out of her life, and maybe you will too. That's not so bad. Life just happens sometimes. You moved on, and she did too.

3. She’s With Someone New

Obviously, you can't be with her anymore when she's already seeing someone new. Don't waste your time trying to make her want you again. Do you know that line from Bonnie Raitt's song that says, "I can't make you love me if you don't. You can't make your heart feel something it won't"?

That's pretty much it.

5 Best Quotes about Second Chances in Love

I can only assume that you're reading this blog because you're going through a breakup. The fact that you've made it to this part tells me that you're looking for a ray of hope. Well, then, here you go. Hopefully, these lift your spirits.

"A second chance doesn't mean you're in the clear. In many ways, it is the more difficult thing because a second chance means that you have to try harder. You must rise to the challenge without the blind optimism of ignorance." - Ling Ma

Ling Ma sure knew what she was talking about. Getting a second chance does not let you off the hook. But now that you know better, do better.

"While wounds can be inflicted easily upon those we love, it's often much more difficult to heal them. Yet the process of healing those wounds provided the richest experience of my life." - Nicholas Sparks, The Wedding (Novel Learning Series Book 2)

The mistakes we make have a way of teaching us important life lessons. Sure, getting over a breakup is tough, and yes, it might take a while before you can move on, but the time you spend moving on and learning from your mistake will make you wiser.

"A man deserves a second chance, but keep an eye on him." - John Wayne

I mean, John Wayne has a point. If somebody gave you a second chance, you better not mess it up again.

"Familiar like a forgotten song from long ago that takes you back to a moment the second you hear it. And you recognize who you were. Then. And now. And you have to figure out how to reconcile the two."- Katy Regnery, Playing for Love at Deep Haven

People change, and change can be a good thing if it has made you better. If your past has made you a better person today, the next best thing you could do is stop dwelling on it and focus on building a new and better life.

"That's the thing about life. You don't always get a second chance, and there are no guarantees. Love is the only thing that really matters." - Linda Becker

It's true. You don't always get a second chance. This is why you should at least try to get it right the first time. And not just in love. When fate opens a door for you, consider it a big deal and give it all you've got.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some more frequently asked questions to help with your dating woes.

Do a lot of girls believe in second chances in relationships?

Not everyone believes in second chances. To be honest, not everyone deserves a second chance. Ultimately, it all depends on how they look at it.

Is it really possible to make a girl like you again after rejecting you?

Of course. It's possible for a woman to see you in a new light and give you another chance. But as I said, you should also be smart enough to know whether or not pursuing a girl is still worth the shot.

Can you become friends with a woman even though she rejected you?

Not really. Sometimes it's more about her having a certain type. Being rejected does not mean something is wrong with you. It just means they're not ready for you yet.

Does rejection always mean there is something wrong with you?

It is possible. We can't be everyone's cup of tea, but that's okay. At least she's honest about it. I mean, would you rather have it if she leads you on? I, too, have been led on. Trust me. You wouldn't want to choose that option. When a woman rejects you, the best way to deal with it is to thank her for her time, move on with your life, and hope she doesn't reject you as a friend.
